For nearly four decades SatKirin Kaur Khalsa has devoted her life to expanding the consciousness of humanity through music and Naad Yoga, the yoga of sound. Having studied extensively with kirtan masters, she offers first-hand knowledge of the powerful meditative system of words and music called "Shabd" which she imparts with authenticity, enthusiasm and dedication. Using the Indian sacred musical format of Raga scales, SatKirin creates an effective means of healing the human body through the soul. Her live performances of kirtan, mantra workshops, and her 13 CDs will carry you into a deep experience of your own spirituality.
She has studied, practiced and performed with well-known ragis and artists such as Bibi Amarjit Kaur, Bhai Jaspal Singh, Bhai Pargat Singh, Ustaad Narinder Singh and Bhai Hari Singh of Patiala Gharana, Dave Frank, and Thomas Barquee.
SatKirin's immersive dedication to the yogic sciences has taken her all over the world to share this knowledge, which she began learning directly from her teacher, Yogi Bhajan, in 1970. She is a teacher trainer of Kundalini Yoga with a deep, direct understanding of this yoga discipline. She teaches at the annual 3HO Winter and Summer Solstice events and at Women's Camp in New Mexico.
As a Sikh Minister, appointed by Yogi Bhajan in 1974 to the position of Guru Granthi to the Los Angeles Gurdwara (Sikh Temple), and now serving the Manhattan Gurdwara, SatKirin projects grace in exalted service for the care and teaching of the Sikh Holy text, the Siri Guru Granth Sahib. She teaches the sacred language of Gurmukhi to the adults and children of the community and performs Sikh religious ceremonies.
As part of her mission to disseminate peace and service through music, SatKirin is a representative to the United Nations Department of Public Information for the NGO of Healthy Happy Holy Organization (3HO Foundation).
In addition, probably her most impressive contribution is raising two sons, with her beloved husband Siri Vishnu Singh. Gurumustuk Singh is the webmaster and founder of the famous Sikh-devoted website, www.sikhnet.com, and father of two children aged 2 and 7. Dharam Singh attends college in Phoenix, Arizona.
SatKirin Kaur Khalsa shares her wisdom by allowing us to gain a clear experiential understanding of the power of the Naad, or universal sound current. Like a loving mother, she nurtures within us a deeper experience of ourselves through her gifts as a singer, musician, teacher, minister, and advocate. As she says, “Sharing the technology of this yogic way of life to uplift, enrich and bring harmony and peace to others is a gift that can only grow with sharing.”

Donna Davidge:
Dear Sat Kirin: I finally got to listening to your Blessings of a Woman CD, what a great way to start the New year! I played it for my first class in NYC, back from Maine, and one student who is at teacher training at GB asked where he could purchase it! I LOVE the Bountiful Blissful, Ad Guray Nameh and the first song has my name woven in , of course it is part of the shabad but it touched me to keep hearing it in your beautiful singing voice!

Thank you again for enhancing my practice and teaching with your continual creation of muiscal mantras that enhance the Kundalini Yoga experience.

Thomas Barquee seems to really get who you are, even tho I enjoyed Ignite Your Light too, he really grabs your essence.

I had purchased Lightness of Being and took it recently on my I Pod to my studio in Dondapadu Village, AP, India far from the Punjab of the Sat Gurus.  The local villagers (like me) do not know a worrd of Punjabi but truly were moved by your music.  Whenever I suffered a creative \"block\" the NO RESISTANCE track would help me get out of it.

Please do try and come to Washington DC Metro area for a concert.  There is a gurudwara which was visited by PM Manmohan Singh on his last visit I could approach for a venue on your behalf.

In addition to being transported to another (better) realm for your concert, it would provide me the opportunity to take concert photos to base an artwork with your likeness.

Kind Regards Anil

Sat Nam Satkirin, Thank you for welcoming me to your class and your sacred home. What an uplifting experience, to be in a group of women learning to recite Japji. I really felt meaning of the words, and your love for sharing these Teachings. I will be honored to come back, and know others , my sister as well, who join the class. Christine Gupta 12/09

When I listen to you and take part I rise on the music.  There is a quality to the sounds and the chants that leads one Home. It is pure Joy.  What you do with kirtan is a gift to the World.

I am teaching my students to open the nadis that lead to the High Heart Chakra.  When we fill ourselves with Light and allow that and Love to enter the chant and send that out to the World it becomes a transformational gift to all the realms.

My view of this life is that there are individuals we meet along the way that flip switches for us.  They turn us on to what we are to learn or practice and experience.  This is the gift of your seva.

Thank you Sat Kirin.  We were thrilled to be there and experience this with you.

My teacher Anne Novak, who I saw tonight. She just got back from teaching in India... had turned me on to  your music a while ago and I did not know that was you until tonight when I asked her .. I had no idea who you were just heard you were talented.. .Love from Leesa Sklover, New Jersey

Dear Satkirin,

I used your CD at the end of a workshop I facilitated last Friday evening.  Ending with the affirmations (I am bountiful ...) as we began closing the meditation was so beautiful, and the people absolutely loved it.  It tied in so perfectly.

I am grateful for the beauty of your lyrics and music, and the way I see it touch so many -- including me.  Thank you.

Subject: Happy Thanksgiving

Satnam Auntie,
Just wanted to drop you a quick note because I was thinking about you yesterday. I was flying back to Oklahoma for Thanksgiving and it was a beautiful early evening flight. I had a window seat facing west and was listening to Blessings of a Woman. The sun was just starting to go down, and the sky was full of vibrant oranges, reds and pinks.  Though I have listened to the album many times, something about the moment and the beautiful clarity of your voice really touched me.  I was reminded of how lucky I am to have a wonderful family, dear friends and powerful music to enrich my life. So, I send my Thanksgiving prayers out to you and yours. I am grateful for the opportunity to know you and to learn from and grow with your music. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Love, Blessings and Gratitude,
Prem Siri

Blessings of woman CD & Kirtan performance:
Transcendent!!! *****
By Jen303 – June 16, 2009
I recently attended a kirtan led by SatKirin Kaur Khalsa and her band of excellent musicians – if you get the chance to see her, do not miss it!  This album perfectly captures the beauty of the music which will draw you in and take you to a rarefied place.  All the selections here are excellent, and others may have different favorites, but I have to mention three that are beyond exceptional: Wahe Guru Jio, Aad Guray Nameh, and Akaal Sahaee, Hari Har.  They have a timeless quality where you feel you’ve heard them before, and yet they constantly surprise you with their exquisiteness.  SatKirin’s music is a true blessing.
Dear Satkirin Kaur.
I wonder if you remeber me. It was in Munich at the KY center on May 29.th of may and we talked a little together. It was nice and great to meet you people from New York. I told you that I enjoyed your concert very much. And I bought 2 of your CDs and now play them all the time they are so wonderful. But what I really wanted to tell you is, that my husband startet to listen to your song Gobinde, Mukande with the voiced of Yogi Bhajan. He heard the song without a break. It was already getting to much for me....
So thanks to your wonderful voice and strong input of Yogi Bhajan he listen to a very great Mantra.
Hopintg to see you and your wonderful crew once more in Munich.
Take care. All the best. Blessings and love. Monika - Budhprakash K.
Dear SatKirin,
Thank you so much for your kind and loving reply.
I just wanted to tell you that a couple of nights ago I searched for you on iTunes and have downloaded your new album.  Although the arrangements are different from the kirtan, they have already grown on me to the point where I feel that they are truly beyond exceptional, especially Wahe Guru Jio, Aad Guray Nameh and Akaal Sahaee, Hari Har.  Since there were no reviews posted, I decided to write the first one and gave the album a stellar review!  (see below)  It's the least I could do for all the enjoyment and bliss I will experience from it.
Blessings,

Thank you so much for a wonderful kirtan last night.  It did feel like you all brought the chanting to a new level.  Devirose commented to me that she felt the musicality was much tighter, crisper.   The audience responded well to you and you just ran with their energy.   Wahe guru

Music:

LA MUJER NOBLE
This one song is so powerful for guiding women to their power through NOBILITY. Remixed from the CD: BLESSINGS OF A WOMAN and recorded in Santiago, Chile in January, 2010 after the Kundalini Yoga Festival there. It is a full 10.05 minutes with added vocals for a beautifully embellished, already most popular track.
The words were spoken by Yogi Bhajan at his lecture to the woman at Khalsa Womens' Training Camp in the summer of 1978. Khalsa women have been singing this song ever since then.
The original mix was provided by Thomas Barquee with remix by Carlos Fernandes, translation by Carlos and Sat Shabd Singh of Santiago, Chile.
